You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 1 is a double disc live album by Frank Zappa. It was released in 1988 (see 1988 in music) under the label Rykodisc. It was the beginning of a six-volume, 12-CD set Zappa assembled of live performances throughout his career.
Total time disc two: 1 hour 8 minutes 36 seconds. Alright I only have 1 thru 3, but this volume shines above the rest so far. I think it comes from the medley of tracks 1 thru 9 on the first disc - Frank Zappa loses control and laughs his way thru Bobby Brown and Keep It Greasy. It's a hilarious insight into the band's personal interplay. It also contains a rare "Drowning Witch" that comes the closest to playing it correctly.
You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 3 è un album live di Frank Zappa, pubblicato nel 1989. Bamboozled by Love/Owner of a Lonely Heart - 6:06. Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up - 2:52. Advance Romance - 6:58. Bobby Brown Goes Down - 2:44. Keep It Greasey - 3:30. Honey, Don't You Want a Man Like Me? - 4:16. Drowning Witch - 9:22. Ride My Face to Chicago - 4:22. Carol, You Fool - 4:06. Chana in de Bushwop - 4:52. Why Does It Hurt When I Pee? - 3:07.
Disc two includes performances from various years including a section of "King Kong" taken from the December 10, 1971 Rainbow Theatre concert, performed shortly before Zappa was pushed from the stage by an audience member . The album contains performances of "Cocaine Decisions" and "Nig Biz" from a concert in Palermo, Italy on July 14, 1982.
Disc two contains a few gems: the original version of "Dickie's Such an Asshole" (from December 1973), a slow and seductive "Zoot Allures" from 1975, and a 25-minute "King Kong" that collages wild performances from 1971 and 1982. Unless you happen to love the 1984 band, this volume is the weakest of the series. Track Listing - Disc 1. Sample.
Part three of You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore focuses almost mainly on various 80s incarnations of Zappa's touring band. There are tracks, and sections of tracks with other lineups, but this one (one of the best lineups) dominates the two CDs.
