Earthy Rollicking Dreamy Spacey Laid-Back/Mellow Quirky Reflective Celebratory Whimsical Wry. Steve Miller. King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents the Steve Miller Band.

By the early 70s Steve Miller was a beaten man. Still only in his mid-twenties, the precocious purveyor of acid-tinged blues rock had seen his stomping ground of the West Coast crumble at the hands of 'the man 'and had seen his band (which had featured a young Boz Skaggs) whittled away to nothing. His critically-lauded albums had made little money and Miller, himself injured in a car crash, was on the verge of quitting for good. Times were not good for the man once referred to by Miles Davis as a 'sorry-ass cat'  . Taken from two shows separated by three years; this album is as good a testament to Miller's numerous strengths (and occasional weaknesses) as you could get. The first set, from 1973, has Steve retaining his stock in trade blues repertoire and blending it with the newer, fresher material.

King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents in Concert is a live solo album by John Entwistle, Who was the bassist for English rock band The Who. In March 1975, John Entwistle embarked on a five-week tour of the United States, opening for Humble Pie. They recorded one of the shows for broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Recorded live at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, the show included solo material, as well as classic Who tracks written by John Entwistle.

Two Cds of concert material from 1973 and 1976 showcasing Steve Miller at his best. The first CD showcases the Joker CD, while disc two covers the Fly like an Eagle Period. Any fan of Miller will tell you that this was a period of Miller at his best, both in songwriting and muscianship. King Biscuit does a great job remastering these shows as they sound excellent. Heavy blues influences and sounds abound while playing some of Millers best tunes. I've always enjoyed Steve Miller's band and music, I've never heard this live compilation album from the king biscuit flower hour before. Decent recording for a live event and he sounds awesome in the recordings. Very happy I picked this up.
