Popol Gluant - In Cairo by Popol Gluant, released 06 February 2017 1. Part 1 2. Part 2 A live recording in Egypt brings to mind two reference points: - the Sun Ra Arkestra playing to an unsuspecting crowd at Hartmut Geerken’s place - the Jean-Michel Jarre Millenium extravaganza in front of the pyramids. It’s hard to explain, but I can somehow feel the influence of both these concerts in Popol Gluant’s recording. He’ll be mad at me for saying that: his music never showed any trace of other people’s influence, or anything that’s ever been heard before. Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. Purchasable with gift card. Unlimited cassette - art by Hendrik Hegray. Cassette + Digital Album.

Nosferatu is the eleventh album by Popol Vuh and was released as the original motion picture soundtrack of Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht by director Werner Herzog. It was originally released in 1978 on Egg. In 2004 SPV re-released the album with a slightly different track list and adding four tracks originally released on the Popol Vuh album Brüder des Schattens – Söhne des Lichts. Morning Sun Rays" – 3:20. Venus Principle" – 4:39.

Popol Gluant is the obscene creature of Hendrik Hegray, the guy with moustache behind the observatory for contemporary outsider drawings called Nazi Knife. The result is a fluorescent creeping lava, moving from schizoid collage to droney obsession for coming back in a burlesque avant-garde parody.

If you plug-and-play a lot of synthonies, you may have found the ultimate post-Tangerine Dream/Popol Vuh/Cluster pleasure center to plug into with Solo Piano. These instrumental songs replace words and voices with sheer current, then devolve into stretches of applause madness (which is hilarious enough not to repeat too often all the way through), recovering just in time to send us off with a deeply rousing cycle that kicks off with almost vindictive pitch-shifting, flattens out into a steady, glitch-filled.

Popol Vuh were a German electronic avant-garde band founded by pianist and keyboardist Florian Fricke in 1969 together with Holger Trülzsch (percussion), Frank Fiedler (recording engineer and technical assistance) and Bettina Fricke (tablas and production). Other important members during the next two decades included Djong Yun, Renate Knaup, Conny Veit, Daniel Fichelscher, Klaus Wiese and Robert Eliscu.

You’ve guessed it: I’m just trying to attract the JMJ fan base.
