At the beginning of the year, I sat down and thought about what I want to accomplish in 2018. What do I want to leave behind and what do I want to take with me in the new year? I`ve said it before, and I`ll say it again: I don`t believe in the whole new year, new me shtick. People think that they can change their life overnight, which is ridiculous. You should always aim to be a better person. And you should also think hard about what makes you happy. One of the most common New Year`s Eve resolutions is the one that involves going to the gym. And surprise surprise, after a month those gym memberships never see the light again. People want to see results fast, but they also put their happiness into the wrong hands. Or wrong resolutions. You might think that losing 20 pounds will make you happy, but until you`re confident in your skin, you`ll always find something to work on.
I have rambled again, but the idea is that I like to set goals that involve personal growth. You might not see the results on the outside, but they`re visible on the inside. As for blogging, although I have some numbers in mind, I`m trying to enjoy the experience again. Last year I neglected Beauty Nerd, and I focused more on my book blog, Carmen`s Reading Corner. This year there are some big life changes coming up, and I`m confident I can make time for both blogs. My health is in a better place, and as long as I have that, nothing stands in my way. So without any further ado, let`s take a look at my goals for 2018.
- Start my Master in Digital Marketing
One of the biggest changes of 2018 is that in September I`ll move back home, and start my Masters. I could have continued my studies here, but honestly, I need a break from this country. After Brexit, more people showed their true colours, and I was left with a bitter taste. I know that not everyone is the same, and I`m also not giving up. But I am tired of working hard, being a good person and still be treated like scum by some people. I also miss my family and friends, and for the time being, going back home is the right thing for me. After my studies I might come back or move somewhere else, who knows. The future is full of possibilities.
- Travel More
So far I`ve only planned a trip to Paris, but I really want to have two more holidays. I might explore more places in my home country, as Romania is full of beautiful historical cities. I was also thinking about visiting Prague. As I`ve said, except Paris, nothing is set in stone, but I do want to travel more next year. And possibly do more travelling posts.
- Have 3 Vegan Days
Full disclosure: I tried becoming a vegetarian 2 years ago, but I couldn`t do it. Although I don`t eat red meat, I love my chicken and fish too much. I don`t think I`ll ever be able to completely cut salmon or kung-pao chicken from my life, but I want to have 3 days when I`m good and eat only veggies and fruits.
- Make more time for friends
Most of my family and friends are back in Romania, so they only way we can communicate is via Skype or mobile. But it`s not the same as seeing someone in real life, and I lost touch with some friends. Hopefully, once I am back home, it will be better.
- Find a sport that I like
I am a couch potato, and sadly, I don`t think I`ll ever be one of those people that exercises 5 times a week. But maybe if I find a sport that I like, I`ll be more inclined to be more athletic.
As for my blogging goals, my main one is to interact more. I want to join more Twitter Chats, be more involved with Instagram. I also want to learn more about the tech part, from coding to taking better pictures. And last, but not least, I want to have a consistent posting schedule. I had one two years ago, and it was then when my blog grew out the most. As for the numbers, they are the following:
- Reach 2k Instagram Followers
- Reach 2k Bloglovin Followers
- Reach 1k Twitter Followers
- Reach 150k Pageviews
- Da: 30+
Let me know what are some of your goals for 2018. Do you want to focus more on your career, health or social life? What`s the main thing you want to accomplish this year?
