Autumn is officially here and I am so excited! I can`t wait to wear my Chelsea boots, big jumpers and massive scarfs. I`m the size of a midget and I`ll probably resemble a hanger, but I don`t give a fuck. I`m ready to be a walking cliche along with my Pumpkin Spiced Latte and fedora hat. Obviously, the impending 3 months of miserable weather are here to ruin my mojo, but I try not to let it get to me anymore. I`m in London, where it rains all the time.
Looking down at my list, I realise that it might not be that original. Well, I`m a person that likes traditions. Like decorating the Christmas tree and blowing your bank account on Black Friday, some habits become part of our nature. The suggestions I`m about to make are so common, I shouldn`t even bother to make. Nevertheless, they bring us immense joy.
- Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte
- Bake an apple/pumpkin pie
- Drink hot cocoa with fresh cream and marshmallows
- Sip mulled wine by the fire
- Watch “Hocus Pocus”
- Burn Fall candles
- Make an Autumn playlist
- Go for a stroll on a foggy morning
- Enjoy a kiss in the rain
- Go on a nature hike
Like most people, I like to associate seasons with certain scents and tastes. And while I enjoy my hot cocoas or mulled wine in Winter as well, there`s something very special about the first sip you take in Autumn. Something comforting! Remember when Proust tasted that freaking Madeleine in “In Search of Lost Time”? That`s me when I have my first pumpkin spice latte. I get nostalgic and think of all the cosy night I`m going to have at home.
I`m also a person that has seasonal playlists. To get a clue, I listen to rock – everything from classic rock to indie rock or alternative. I also believe in music therapy and even though I listen to some pretty depressive songs, for me they have a positive connotation. I overcome some pretty bad shit and I am proud of that. Those songs remind me I am strong. I`m not going to go into too many details now, as I`ll post my Autumn playlist in a couple of days.
Considering I`m not a big outdoors person, some of my suggestions might seem strange. But I enjoy being out in Autumn. I`m not melting like in the summer. I`m not being attacked by flowers like in Spring. And I`m not freezing like in the winter months. It`s the best time to enjoy long walks and meditate. Or go on hikes so you can get those #Instagoals pictures.
As for movies, I feel like I could make hundreds of recommendations. But “Hocus Pocus” is a classic. It`s like the Madonna of Autumn movies. However, if you`re not too tired from seeing these types of posts, then I might make one where I talk about more movies and also make some Halloween recommendations. Over on my book blog Carmen`s Reading Corner I`ll also make a list of the books I plan on reading in the Fall.
Let me know in the comments if you`re as excited for Autumn as I am. Don`t forget to leave your blog links so I can check them out. Have a lovely day!
P.S. I`m all about Autumnal makeup and isn`t this palette from Urban Decay the best? Review to come soon.
P.P.S. I am very busy at work this weekend, so I can reply to you only Monday. Love and hugs!
