Hello, everyone! Yesterday was a sad day, but I will not go into many details. This year divided people all over the world, hate and fear trumped reason (
see what I did there?) and some monumental decisions were made. What`s done is done, though, so we should stand united again and try to be better people. I know today`s post must seem silly, but Christmas has the power to bring people together. For a moment, we think about others and not just ourselves. Is Christmas the epitome of consumerism? Yes, it is. But it`s also about love and the joy of making someone else happy. That`s why I`ve made a short list, to make sure that you will ace the Christmas presents this year.
Let`s start with the obvious one: preparations. First of all, write down the number of persons you`ll be gifting this year. I usually have a list divided into three categories: family, friends and coworkers. After that, I like to think of a trait that defines that person. For instance,a reader will love books, while a beauty lover would love anything makeup related.
2. Set a budget
If it were up to me, I would spend my yearly wages on presents. But unfortunately, I am an adult with bills and responsibilities. When I write my list, I set a certain amount for each person and try to work around that. I know, I sound like a control freak. But with a budget you can include everyone and still go on with your everyday expenses.
3. Compare offers
Now that you have a budget and an idea of what everyone wants, you can start shopping. However, don`t limit yourself to just one shop. The competition is fierce and the offers are endless. Most shops have promotions, like 3 for 2 or buy one, get one half price. Do your research properly, you`ll be surprised at how much money you could save.
4. Get creative
If you google DIY gifts you`ll get thousands of results, each more original than the other. A DIY gift shows that you are thoughtful and you care about that person. Even if you are not that crafty, it`s the effort that counts.
5. Think outside the box
You have your physical gift, store bought or homemade. But what if you could give something else? You know what they say, you can`t put a price on feelings. So what if you decide to recreate your first date with your partner? Or you throw a party for your parents? Just think of a unique experience that will show the others how much you care about them.
These are some of my tips, but I`m sure you have more, so please share them with me. Also, while I like planning in advance, some people like the thrill of late shopping and there`s nothing wrong with that. Enjoy the ride and start counting the days till 25th of December.
