Hello, everyone! Looking at my blog archive I realised it`s been a while since I wrote a fashion post, so I decided to fix that and bring you my favourite trends from this season. While I am not a fan of low temperatures and cloudy skies, there`s no denying that Autumn always brings something special to the table (besides those delicious Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes). You can finally wear your coats and fedoras, bring your A-game when it comes to layering and rock a grunge look. With my petite, curvy figure I am not that comfortable during summer, but in the colder months my confidence builds up and I am more adventurous when in comes to trying new things. Sometimes not all trends work in your favour, but the ones I have gathered below should compliment every figure.
1. Bomber jackets
I am a girl who has an endless supply of coats and trenches, but sometimes they can be a bit boring and conventional. Also, with this changing weather, you want something that will cover you up but won`t leave you melting. Cue the bomber jackets! One thing that makes this garment so special is that it comes in different materials and prints, so there`s something for everyone. You can opt for velour or satin, for a floral print or khaki green, you name it! During fashion week everyone was rocking this trend and the eccentric combinations were endless.
My favourite has to be this light pink bomber from River Island, which says a lot, considering I don`t really like pink. But this will add a feminine touch to every outfit and it will be really easy to match with most things in your wardrobe. It is a limited edition, so you should grab one as fast as you can. When it comes to bomber jackets, Topshop is the place to go and while they are a bit overpriced, they have an amazing selection to choose from. My favourite is definitely this floral print number, which will add a cool factor to every outfit. If you are not too sure about this trend and don`t want to spend a fortune, grab this little guy from Primark.
2. Pleated midi skirts
Is there a better combination than a pleated midi skirt with a big chunky knit and a pair of ankle boots? I think not! While some might say that it is overused and unoriginal, I think it`s classy and timeless and you don`t mess with that. There was a time when midi skirts scared me because I thought they will accentuate my midget size. But it`s all about finding the ONE! For example, a big pattern is an NO NO for short people, but light pastels do the trick. Pleated midi skirts have invaded the high-end and high-street stores, but there`s one shop in particular that has the best designs and that is Topshop. These three skirts were my top picks, but there`s so much more to choose from!
I`m one of those people that are always cold, no matter how many items of clothing I have on. Granted, winters in England are nothing compared to the ones we used to have in Romania, but I still like to feel warm. Whether you opt for a faux-fur coat or jumper, this trend is not only stylish but also practical.
For whatever reason, I am really drawn to this furry jacket from New Look, which may look fugly at first, but the more you look at it, you see its potential. Or at least I think it will look really cool with an all-black ensemble. If it`s too much for you, you can opt for a gilet (Primark) or even just a faux fur collar. Still not convinced? Get a pom pom beanie instead!
You can`t speak of 2016 fashion trends without mentioning the chokers. Extremely popular in the 90`s they made a real comeback this year and now almost everyone has one. On the runaways, I have seen some big statement ones, but the plain ones remain my favourite. With these I don`t really see the point of spending a lot, you can make them yourself or buy them from high-street stores, like Asos, New Look or Forever 21.
5. Suede boots
I own about 15 pairs of suede boots and before you judge me, just remember that I work in a shoe shop and get a good discount,ok? (
as a manager I get amazing deals, but shhh) My favourites have to be the ones that are over the knee, but I do have my fair share of ankle ones. I think that next week I will do a post about my shoe collection, so I won`t get into too many details now.
I really hope that you enjoyed this ridiculously long post and that you found it useful. These trends have been around for a while, but I always prefer investing in things that will last. Let me know what other trends you`re loving this season and how you`re styling them.
