It`s that time of the year again, where I talk about things I loved, from TV shows to books, songs and everything in between. I don`t know if I told you, but these are my favourite type of posts because you get to know me a little bit better. And when I read the comments I see that we have a lot of things in common and it gives me fuzzy feelings, cause I`m not the only weirdo out there.
The days are shorter now, the perfect excuse to hide under my blankets and turn on Netflix. This month I was obsessed with 3 TV shows, Community, Scream and Reign. Community is a comedy centered around a group of College students, all ages, races and backgrounds. It has plenty of lovable characters and you really get invested in their stories. Also, almost every episode is filled with pop culture references, which is awesome! They don`t put too much accent on drama or romance, which is quite good because many times these ruin a good comedy if they are dragged on too much. Reign is a historical drama about Mary Queen of Scots and while some details are wrong, it`s a very enjoyable show. It has mystery, drama, romance and the best soundtrack I heard in a while. Because they don`t really follow the history I thought I won`t like it, but I`m actually obsessed with it. (might even do a full post where I talk about how hot Francis is) Scream is very similar to the 90s slasher movies with the same name and while I did not have high hopes for it, it was a pleasant surprise. It had a good story development and it did not take itself very seriously, one of the reasons I loved the movies as well. Looking forward to the second season!
As you all know, I love reading and lately I`m into YA fantasy books. I know, a bit late to the party considering I`m 25, but some of these are surprisingly good. Since I am a big fan of the movies, I decided I should read the books as well. WH Smith had a 3 for 2 offer on YA books and that`s the reason I bought the whole Divergent trilogy, the Hunger Games trilogy and The Maze Runner trilogy. Because I am working more hours I had time to finish 2 books, but I plan on reading all before Christmas. I started with The Maze Runner by James Dashner, a book about a boy named Thomas who wakes up in a maze populated by teenage boys. It`s an intense book from the first pages, you jump straight into the story and the action is steady throughout the whole book. After this, I read Four: A Divergent Collection by Veronica Roth. The action takes place 2 years before the one in Divergent and focuses on how Tobias became a Dauntless. Four (Tobias) was my favourite Divergent character and I loved learning more about him. Both books are set in dystopian worlds, but in a way, they serve as cautionary tales.
In terms of music, I am obsessed with Years&Years, Eyes Shut keeps playing on repeat over and over again. I also stumbled across a Youtube Channel where I can listen to the soundtrack from Reign, which is freaking awesome! Speaking of Youtube, this month I found 2 lovely girls that review/talk about books, Regan from PeruseProject and Sasha from abookutopia. They are funny, smart and it`s so entertaining to watch them.
So this was part 1 of my October Favourites!Later I`ll talk about the beauty products I loved last month, so stay tuned. Also, don`t forget to let me know in the comments what have you been loving in October, I always love hearing your recommendations.
