Hello, everyone! If you read this post that means I`m not a flu zombie anymore, which is bad news for the tissue industry, but hopefully a good one for you, as I am back to blogging. I don`t know why, but every time I want to have a month where I blog daily something has to happen. I get sick, someone at work gets sick and I have to work extra, a meteor falls on Earth.. you get the point. So from now on I`m not making any more statements, I`ll try to post as much as I can and hopefully, that will be good enough. You might remember that before Colgate
(yes, the stupid puns are back) I did a little W7 haul and first impressions on the products I got. Today I`m back with a full review on the lip liners.
Believe it or not, I started using lip liners regularly only this year. I don`t know why, but I always associated them with a bad 90`s makeup, where the contour does not match the lipstick at all and it looks like someone drew your lips. Lip liners made a serious comeback when Kylie Jenner`s pout became famous, but I`m not a fan of her, so I did not see the appeal. Everything changed when I saw a few makeup tutorials where they were using lip liners instead of lipstick and the results were amazing! I decided to expand my horizons again, but being a newbie, I knew I wanted to experiment only with cheap products until I get the hang of it. At 2.50£, these retractable lip liners were the answer.
Unfortunately, there are not that many shades available, so I went for the most common choices, pink and nude. To me, they both look like nudes, one more pink and one more brown, but I`m no expert. Both shades are very wearable, but the one I reach out for the most is the Pink. I have quite pale pink lips and for me this shade enhances everything, resulting in a your lips but better situation. The brown nude is a very pretty shade as well, you can easily recreate the infamous Jenner pout with it.
The first thing I noticed about these is how creamy they are. They are so smooth and glide on easily, for a flawless application. Like I said, I like to use them instead of a lipstick, the application is very easy, the pigmentation is really good and the don`t dry out my lips or hang to the dry patches at all. I would say that the finish is somewhere in the middle, definitely not matte, but not very shiny either. The only downfall is that they are not that long lasting, 4 hours tops, but re-applying them only takes a few seconds, so I don`t really mind.
Overall I am really impressed with these, the quality is really good considering how affordable they are. Love the fact that they are quite versatile, you can use them as lip liners, a base for lipstick or gloss or just on their own like I do. I will look for more shades, I`m definitely curious to see how a red or dark berry will look if they`ll be as creamy and smooth as these.
Have you tried these before? What are your favourite lip liners?Let me know in the comments below.
