Us girls have a tendency of always finding flaws when we look in the mirror, we are our worst enemies. You will always find something you don`t like, but you also need to find something that makes you feel good about yourself, otherwise you`ll drown in low self-esteem. For years and years, I was proud of my clear skin and I even took it for granted. In these past weeks, I worked a lot and I neglected my skin, a thing that backfired a few days ago. You see, I have combination skin, with some shine on my T-Zone and dry areas around my eyes and cheeks. But lately, I got lots of spots, my skin feels drier than ever and the nose is like a mini disco ball. I guess that happens when you don`t properly cleanse for a week. (I am in the process of moving, I have a decent excuse) Obviously, there are worse things happening in the world right now and I am not making a drama, I just wanted to give you a background.
Since none of my previous foundations were working, I had to find a new one. I knew No7 has a system that matches your foundation to your skin tone and that got me quite intrigued. So I headed to their counter and was served by a lovely lady named Susan. She was very professional and what I loved most was the fact that she was not very pushy. I don`t like it when I am forced into buying something. She matched my skin tone, applied the foundation and also a bit of bronzer and highlighter. Best customer service I received. I read stories where girls complained that the ladies at the counter were rude, a thing that makes me so mad. As a person who works in retail, I know being nice is the best way to attract customers. Why would you be rude?
Moving on to the foundation, I`ll be honest from the start and say that it has low coverage, maybe medium if you apply more. However, in the summer, I don`t want something very heavy on my skin, so it works for me. This foundation is designed for people with combination skin, so it will clear the shine, but will also cover the dry areas without becoming patchy. The finish is more satin like, it`s definitely not a matte foundation, but at the same time, it`s not entirely dewy either. The formula is quite liquid, so it`s a bit hard to apply it with fingers. I use my beauty blender when I want a very light coverage and my Real Techniques stippling brush when I want to build it up for more coverage. It sits really nice, feels very light and comfortable and more important, even if it`s sunny outside, several hours lateral I can still see it there.
The service matched me to the lightest shade, but I got on shade darker, Calico, just to add more coverage. I was quite shocked to see the results because normally I don`t buy the fairest shades, I am like the third or fourth most light colour. I am either turning paler or I`ve been using darker shades. Anyway, if you decide you want to try this foundation, there are plenty of shades to choose from.
