May Birchbox

The content of this box wasn`t a surprise, as I took a little pick at what other bloggers got. Usually, I avoid those kinds of posts and I love the excitement of a new box, but after my Love Me Beauty disappointment, I couldn`t help it. (I mean, for a beauty box, why they put tea and notebooks on their menus?) Once again, the team at Birchbox proved that quality will always top quantity. Seriously, they`re on fire lately, collaborating with so many cool names. This month they teamed with Harper`s Bazaar and it was another winning duo.

I loved everything, starting with the packaging. The box is so cute, I`ll definitely find something to use it for. The design matched the theme (outdoors) perfectly and the products included were specially selected to prep you for warmer weather. Here`s what I got, listed from my least favourite to top picks:

  • Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath&Shower Oil

The full price of this oil is a stunning 39 pounds, so I won`t get it anytime soon. But that`s great about beauty boxes, you get to try new (and sometimes really expensive) products. This oil is a mix of pink grapefruit, rosemary and juniper. The scent is quite fruity, so it will be perfect to use it in the mornings, before showering, to wake you up. I am not a big fan of oils, so this was the only product I did not like that much (compared to the others).

  • Beauty Protector Shampoo and Conditioner

I was intrigued about this brand ever since I got the Protecting Oil, which soon became a favourite. I have a feeling I will also like these ones, though, at 14 pounds each, they`re not in my comfort zone. However, I love the fact that their formula is paraben-free and vegan. They are designed for all hair types and they promise to: moisture, enhance volume, smooth hair, seal cuticles and protect against UV. I`m quite sold, so if I like these samples, I`ll use my Birchbox points and buy them.

  • Soigne Nail Laquer

This was a full sized product, which retails at 11 pounds, more than the box itself. I love nude nail polishes, they always make you look classier and this color is amazing. The bottle looks elegant though at this price I think they can do better. I also read that it`s a non-toxic formula, so another win there.

  • Benefit They`re Real! Mascara

I tried my first Benefit products through Birchbox and it was love at first sight. I got Bad Gal Mascara in a set and I loved it, so I have high expectations from this one, being a beauty staple for so many people. This mascara promises to give you dramatic length and volume, making your lashes look bigger and fuller, without any clumps.

  • Liz Earle Cleanse&Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Hands down my favourite! I wanted to try this product for such a long time, but I also wanted to try different products before I jumped the bandwagon. This is such a cult cleanser, what more can I say? What I love about it is that it has natural ingredients, such as eucalyptus oil, rosemary and chamomile, meaning it won`t be harsh on the skin. Seriously, I couldn`t find a bad review about this product – everyone said it left their skin perfectly cleansed and hydrated. The full-size product costs 13.25 pounds and they say that if you use it twice daily it will last 30 days, but I plan on using it only in the evenings, so I think it will last longer.

I love love love this box! Until now, it`s my favourite, so I`m quite curious to see if my (growing) expectations will be matched next time. Except the oil (which was a B), all the other products got a big A+. Also, I loved the collaboration with Harper`s Bazaar and the fact that you can get a one-year subscription for 12 pounds, saving more than 76%. See you guys, I`m busy ordering my subscription!
