If you were expecting a deep and meaningful post, you`ve come to the wrong place! (Tyrion Lannister dramatic voice, pam pam) There are books, articles and other written words about being fake, so what more can I bring? Maybe my opinion on the matter. Truth be told, I think we all wear a mask at one point and that`s not always a bad thing. At work/school, we have to behave in a certain way that sometimes is not similar to our personalities (your boss doesn`t have to know you like dancing on tables, right?). Sometimes even if we are sad, we pretend to be ok, because we don`t want to burden people we care about with our problems. And the list could go on…However, if you are as fake as Pamela Anderson`s boobs, then you have a problem.
Now, if I got you confused, sorry about that! This post is actually about facial masks:))
Yesterday I had a day off, so I decided to treat myself with some Boots and Superdrug goodies. Both were having some offers on facial masks, so I decided to try a bit of everything. You see, I think there are some skincare products worth committing to, but not these babies. For me, masks should be fun and entertaining, that`s way I always use a new one. So here`s what I bought:
- Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Pore Cleansing Sauna Masque
I`ve read only good things about this mask. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this product is vegetarian-friendly, meaning they don`t test on animals or add bits of animals. Because I`m a huge chocolate fan, this combination with orange is perfect for me. (though I might crave some Lindt later) It also has Mediterranean clay to cleanse dirt and oils from deep within pores. By the way, I`m very intrigued by the whole self-heating process.
- Superdrug Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask
This mask is ideal for oily and blemish prone skin. The Eucalyptus and zesty Lemon will leave your skin feeling fresh while the witch hazel and willow bark extract will deeply cleanse your pores. Recently my skin got really red, so I can`t wait to see if it will have any effect on my blemish.
- Montagne Jeunesse Manuka Honey Peel Off Mask
I know it`s kinda gross, but I love peeling my mask off. Actually, these are my favourite types of mask, because, with these ones, you can really see the difference. Honey does wonders for your skin and they paired it with jasmine, caramel and vanilla.
- Superdrug Superfruits Exfoliating Mask
I actually wear this one right now, while writing the post. First of all, it smells amazing! It`s a mix of raspberry, cranberry, blueberry and strawberry…I guess they put all the berries in this one:)) Because of the seeds, it exfoliated my skin when I applied it, so that`s another plus. Being a clay mask, you might not be able to move your face muscles for 10 minutes, but the results are worth it. This mask is ideal for all skin types.
- Montagne Jeunesse Peel-Off Masque
An anti-stress mask, ideal for the normal, oily and T-Zone skin. Now, about the anti-stress thing..aren`t all masks like that? Or maybe it`s just me, but when I apply a mask it really relaxes me: 10 minutes just for yourself, to feel pretty. This is another peel-off, based on purified water and cucumber. Due to the ingredients, besides cleaning, it will leave your skin feeling fresh and revived.
- Superdrug Yoghurt Smoothie Mask
The best for last! This is a lovely and sweet mix of cocoa butter, vanilla, honey, shea and almond. On the back, they say it`s rich and creamy and that it will leave your skin smooth and soft. I think you know by now I`m a sucker for sweet scents, so I think this will become my favourite. This mask is ideal for normal to dry skin, but I think that you can use it even if you have oily skin. I mean, what harm can vanilla and cocoa do? Leave you smelling like a cookie?
So here`s my new mask collection. I love the fact that they are a combination of different ingredients, for different problems. As I said, masks should be fun. Also, a big plus: they are suitable for vegetarians, no animal bits or animal testing. Hurray!
