Mouse on Mars is an electronic music duo formed in Germany in 1993, consisting of Jan St. Werner from Cologne and Andi Toma from Düsseldorf. Their music is a blend of electronic genres including IDM, dub, krautrock, breakbeat, and ambient, featuring heavy use of organic analog synth and cross-frequency modulation. Their music also features live instrumentation including strings, horns, drums, bass and guitar.
Glam (Cass, Album, RE). Sound Improvement. Clearly meant to be heard on vinyl - the CD reissue has some bonus tracks, but many of these are filler (most notably Hetzchase Nailway, 5 minutes of squelchy foreboding which almost kills the album's pace). The original tracklisting has no fat on it. The vinyl also has better bass response, which is key for many of the songs which feature low frequencies.
Bruno Mars That’s What I Like. Queen Don't Stop Me Now.
Despite the passage of time, however (most of these tracks date from 1993 and 1994), Glam contains some of Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner's most compelling material to date, and listens like a sort of combined laboratory/proving ground for the dauby, impressionistic abstraction later pursued on the 1997 Mouse on Mars LP Instrumentals and by Werner's side.
