Little Richard (released as Volume 2 in the UK) was the eponymous second studio album by Little Richard, released in 1958. Side one. "Keep A Knockin'" (Richard Penniman). By the Light of the Silvery Moon" (Gus Edwards, Edward Madden). Send Me Some Lovin'" (John Marascalco, Leo Price). I'll Never Let You Go (Boo Hoo Hoo Hoo)" (Richard Penniman). Heeby-Jeebies" (Maybelle Jackson, John Marascalco). All Around the World" (Robert Blackwell, McKinley Millet).

Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" (1955) was included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2010, which stated that his "unique vocalizing over the irresistible beat announced a new era in music. Little Richard's initial musical influences were gospel performers such as Brother Joe May, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mahalia Jackson and Marion Williams. Little Richard learned how to play boogie-woogie piano from teenage musician Esquerita around this time. Little Richard left RCA Victor in February 1952 after his records failed to catch on.

She founded a gospel publishing house and, with the Sallie Martin Singers, helped discover Ruth James, who became better known as Dinah Washington. Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915-1973). Like one or two others in this list of the best gospel singers, Same Cooke easily made the leap from spiritual to secular music. He learned his trade as a boy singing with the gospel group The Highway QCs, but he really made his name with The Soul Stirrers, with whom he recorded gems such as ‘Touch The Hem Of His Garment’. Cooke’s smooth and soulful voice suited narrative gospel songs, some of which he wrote. Franklin’s 1972 Amazing Grace album was one of her best-selling albums, cementing gospel’s appeal as a commercial force in a rock era.

Little Richard had been making records for four years before he rolled into Cosimo Matassa's J&M Studio in New Orleans and cut the epochal "Tutti Frutti" in the fall of 1955, but everything else he'd done - and much of what others had recorded - faded into insignificance when Richard wailed "A wop bop a loo mop a. lomp bomp bomp" and kicked off one of the first great wailers in rock history
