The actual performance took place at the San Francisco Deaf Club on March 3, 1979. The performance was unique in that this was the last time their rhythm guitarist 6025 performed with them. Dead Kennedys are an American punk rock band that formed in San Francisco, California, in 1978. The band was one of the defining hardcore punk bands during its initial eight-year run. Dead Kennedys' lyrics were usually political in nature, satirizing establishment political figures (liberal and conservative) and authority in general, as well as popular culture and even the punk movement itself.

Fronted by legendary smart-ass agitator Jello Biafra, this five-piece Dead Kennedys lineup (Jello, East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride, and Ted, with guitarist 6025 playing his last gig with the band) blazes through a mighty set that includes such killer material as "California Über Alles," "Kill the Poor," "Holiday in Cambodia," and the surreal encore numbers "Back in the. . There's also a previously unreleased track, "Gaslight.

Returning with their third album in 1985, Frankenchrist, the Dead Kennedy’s found themselves at the centre of an obscenity lawsuit, charged with distributing pornography to minors due to . Giger’s album artwork of garish illustrations of penises and anuses. The case was eventually dismissed, with Biafra becoming a prominent voice for the advocacy of free speech. Despite the court victory, the Dead Kennedys were unable ensure the band’s longevity, with 1986’s Bedtime for Democracy being their last official release.

The album was recorded March 3, 1979 at the Deaf Club and was the last performance of 6025, their additional guitarist. After a quick intro by a DJ Johnny Walker, the band bursts into a disco version of " Kill the Poor," with Biafra yelling at the crowd to dance and making fun of some of the more New Wave kids. Jello Biafra himself has criticized the sound quality of the album and the motives of his former band mates in releasing it. While Jello is professedly unsentimental, I have to disagree with him here.
