All samples from Mendelssohn's Concerto In E Minor by Nathan Milstein were ripped from YouTube by L. Pierre. That particular record is considered to be the very first 33 1/3rpm long-playing 12 record in history, released in 1948, explaining also the title of this album "1948 - "). Second pressing. This is the retail version that does not include the facsimile letter. The first pressing was numbered and sold out before being even released

The stormy 40s. It’s safe to say that Aidan Moffatt is a fan of the grand gesture. Record Collector is the world's leading authority on rare and collectable records. Got any news or live dates? Send it to ti. onesopolis. The stormy 40s. For his final album as L Pierre, the Arab Strap man has mined the first 12 LP – violinist Nathan Milstein and the New York Philharmonic’s 1948 recording of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto – for samples (ripped from YouTube, for art’s sake) and used them to make an entirely new piece. Oh, and it’s a limited (500 only), vinyl-only release that comes with no sleeve, thus encouraging wear’n’tear and customisation.

But it's time to say goodbye with his fifth offering 1948–, and round off the project with a fitting end. Nathan Milstein’s version of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 1948 was the first 12" LP ever pressed. Here Moffat has lifted the recording in its entirety from YouTube, reimagining the piece through a warped manipulation of short samples to create an unsettling but bonnie beast.
