Bing Crosby included the song in a medley on his album 101 Gang Songs (1961). Harking back to the original lyrics of "When the Chariot Comes", the song is sometimes referenced in relation to the end of the world, most notably in The Illuminatus! Trilogy and the comic book Promethea. Jibjab created a satire about George W. Bush’s re-election, called "Second Term", to the tune of "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain". In 2012 Neil Young together with Crazy Horse recorded an almost six-minute-long version on their album Americana with the title "Jesus Chariot". Funkadelic references the tune in their song "Comin' Round The Mountain". Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff A Bus" is a children's rhyme to the same tune in Scotland.

Comin' Round The Mountain is a 1951 film starring the comedy team of Abbott and Costello. Theatrical agent Al Stewart (Bud Abbott) has successfully booked his client, Dorothy McCoy (Dorothy Shay), "The Manhattan Hillbilly", at a New York nightclub. He has also booked an inept escape artist, The Great Wilbert (Lou Costello), at the same location. During his performance, Wilbert cannot escape from his shackles and screams for help.

I'm Coming Home is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on September 21, 1973, by Columbia Records and was mainly composed of material written by the songwriting team of its producer, Thom Bell, and Linda Creed. Unlike several of the Mathis albums before it, I'm Coming Home relied primarily on new songs and included only two covers of established chart hits, both of which were by The Stylistics ("I'm Stone in Love with You" and "Stop Look and Listen to Your Heart").
