Blazing Horns is a dub/ska/reggae music album recording by TOMMY MCCOOK released in 1977 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. Grove Music – GMLP 002 (UK). Thanks to snobb for the addition. McCook was born in Havana, Cuba, and moved to Jamaica in 1933. He took up the tenor saxophone at the age of eleven, when he was a pupil at the Alpha School, and eventually joined Eric Dean’s Orchestra. In 1954 he left for an engagement in Nassau, Bahamas, after which he ended up in Miami, Florida, and it was here that McCook first heard John Coltrane and fell in love with jazz. McCook returned to Jamaica in early 1962, where he was approached by a few local producers to do some recordings  . Blazing Horns - Tenor In Roots - 1976-1978 - Blood & Fire (2003). Tommy McCook (3 March 1927 – 5 May 1998) was a Jamaican saxophonist. A founding member of The Skatalites, he also directed The Supersonics for Duke Reid, and backed many sessions for Bunny Lee or with The Revolutionaries at Channel One Studios in the 1970s. McCook was born in Havana, Cuba, and moved to Jamaica in 1933.

The disc collects the Blazing Horns LP (tracks 1 to 9, released in 1979) and Tenor In Roots (tracks 12 to 20, released 1977 as a white label pressing only). Also included here: track 10 is a b-side version from a Patrick Andy 12", and a Bunny Lee-produced 12" cut ("Riding West", track 11). Track 1 is expanded from the original LP version with the second/extended portion pulled from a 1979 7" 45 release b-side, where it was titled "No Water."
The original Blazing Horns LP and the two 12"s mentioned above were all released on the Grove Music label.
