Horrorscope is the fifth studio album by thrash metal band Overkill, released on September 3, 1991 through Atlantic and Megaforce Records. It was the first Overkill album to feature the duo of guitarists Merritt Gant and Rob Cannavino, and the last to be released through Megaforce; although they remained on Atlantic until 1995
Best modern day thrash album and Overkill's best overall. Modernmproducfion and every track is a winner. This album reaffirmed that Thrash is alive and well! Had to go with Years of Decay, but yeah, this was like the Megadeth Endgame. Or what Death Magnetic was supposed to be. All the good comeback albums: Tempo, Endgame, Thirteen, Ironbound, Electric Age, Phantom Antichrist, Worship Music. This album is just as awesome as Endgame by Megadeth almost. Every song is killer. It is the Overkill album that I go back and listen to the most. From "Certifiable" to "Let Me Shut That For You" and the masterpiece "Cold Hard Fact," The Killing Kind offers some of Overkill's best work.
Overkill are one of the early American thrash metal bands, forming in New Jersey back in 1980. Overkill is arguably one of the best and most important albums in the history of hard rock and heavy metal, marking as it does the moment when Motörhead first unleashed the ferocious musical attack they would become famous for. Combining a love of rock'n'roll, with the fury and energy of punk, nothing quite like this had ever been heard before and they quickly became pretty much the only band that appealed to rock fans and punk kids alike. Opening track "Overkill" is a declaration of intent from it's breathtaking double-kick intro through some gloriously manic soloing.
