Surf's Up is the 17th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released in 1971. It was met with a warm critical reception and reached number 29 on the US record charts, becoming their highest-charting LP of new music in the US since 1967. In the UK, Surf's Up peaked at number 15, continuing a string of top 40 records that had not abated since 1965.

The Beach Boys is the 25th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on June 10, 1985. Produced by Steve Levine, the album is the band's first recording after the drowning death of founding member Dennis Wilson. It was also the band's first album to be recorded digitally and the last released by James William Guercio's Caribou Records

The compilation displays a number of oddities, including the inclusion of album versions of "Be True To Your School", "Help Me Ronda", and "Fun, Fun, Fun" instead of the hit-single versions, a difference which is subtle in the last case, but more prominent in the first two. Initial pressings of this album contained a poster depicting an airplane flying a Beach Boys banner. The cover artwork reflected the Beach Boys' seventies appearance

NOTE: Although The Beach Boys' reputation was built as a singles act, it was through listening to their albums that I really grew to love them. The depth of their albums, starting with Surfer Girl on, began to be filled with not only the familiar hit singles, but increasingly challenging album cuts and production touches that made them the envy of their contemporaries.

The Beach Boys’ first album, Surfin’ Safari came out in the autumn of 1962 and aside from its urging to get on a surfboard it was a mix of covers and co-writes between Brian Wilson and Mike Love as well as Gary Usher. Surfin’ USA continued where their debut album left off, with the distinction of including the Beach Boys first big hit single, when the title song of the album made N. on the Billboard charts. By the time their third album, Surfer Girl, in late 1963, Brian had hit his song-writing stride and their songs were beginning to reference life beyond the beach. A tough act to follow, album-wise, yet 1971’s Surf’s Up did just that and more. It is a rock album rather than a pop album and is justifiably loved by many fans.

After Reprise rejected what was to be their debut album for the label, the Beach Boys re-entered the studio to begin work on what would become a largely different set of songs. The results signaled a creative rebirth for the band, a return to the beautiful harmonies and orchestral productions of their classic mid-'60s material. Though the songwriting didn't quite reach the high quality of "California Girls" or "God Only Knows," Sunflower showed the Beach Boys truly working as a band, and doing so better than they ever had in the past (or would in the future).

6) The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album When it comes to recording original Christmas music, there are two camps: in one, attempts at new classics lead to gut-wrenching results like The Christmas Shoes and in the far more sparsely populated other, you have the rare-but-coveted All I Want for Christmas Is You. After being fired as studio pianist for the recording sessions for A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector, Brian hired Four Freshman-arranger Dick Reynolds to arrange a 41-piece orchestral backing for his own 1964 holiday album.
