Bivouac is the second studio album by American punk band Jawbreaker, released on Tupelo Recording Company and Communion Records in 1992 on CD, LP and cassette. The cassette release has been pressed on clear, yellow, blue and clear yellow shells. and "Pack It Up" are both covers. The former was recorded and co-written by Joan Jett and released on her album Bad Reputation under its full title, "You Don't Know What You've Got"
Unfun was Jawbreaker's punkest record, but he feared it wasn't punk enough: "Sorry we ain't hard enough to piss your parents off," he snipped on "Incomplete". His fretful intelligence often led him to dispense free psychological evaluations and strawman parables. Schwarzenbach managed one pretty great album with Jets to Brazil, Orange Rhyming Dictionary, before petering out into mojo-less soft rock. With reunion and documentary rumors rumbling, Jawbreaker is primed for renewed attention, though one wonders what emo fans raised on Dashboard Confessional, Warped Tour, and Vagrant Records will make of their pinched, petulant sound.

Label: Blackball Records – BB-007-LP. Format: Vinyl, Album, Remastered, LP, Repress. Country: US. Released: 2009. Unfun has been remastered by John Golden from the original analog tapes. The increased sampling rate boosts some of the bottom end and midrange. It sounds fucking awesome. The CD and download versions of the record include the three song Whack & Blite . as well as the 7" mix of "Busy" as an unlisted bonus track. The original artwork has been restored and all formats include additional band photos from the time of recording.
Yes, Unfun is quite amateur in many ways for a band with such a cult legacy as Jawbreaker, but that doesn’t make it any less noteworthy. The closest thing I can compare listening to this album is playing the original Half-Life. Yeah, it’s pretty damn dated with it’s once unique non-explicit storytelling and first-person platforming sequences, but noticing these things doesn’t make the experience any worse
