SPM Presents The Purity Album is a compilation album by American hip hop recording artist SPM and his labelmates from Dope House Records. It was released on August 15, 2000 and this is the first of three albums to be released with Universal Records. The album debuted at number 57 on the Billboard 200 and number 26 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It contains the Tony G-produced hit single "You Know My Name", which peaked at on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and on the Hot Rap Songs charts.

It’s hard to escape the conclusion that he did, in the end, make his deal with the Devil. But the result is a really excellent album: uncompromising, thoughtful, and with enough buried complexities to keep people arguing for years to come. To Pimp a Butterfly is Lamar firmly embracing his place at the pulpit, looking into himself and out into the world simultaneously, and using his influence to paint a powerful, enduring picture of the black American experience.

Lamar’s new album, To Pimp a Butterfly, doesn’t explicitly bill itself as a movie like good kid, . d city did, but the network of interlocking dramas explored here feels filmic nonetheless, and a variety of characters appear across the album’s expanse. The opener, "Wesley’s Theory", turns the downfall of onvicted-tax-dodger Wesley Snipes into a kind of Faustian parable. Snoop drops by on "Institutionalized"; Dre himself phones in on "Wesley". To Pimp a Butterfly pivots on the polarizing lead single, "i". Upon release last autumn, the sunny soul pep talk came off lightweight and glib. When it appears deep in the back end of Butterfly, though, "i" plays less like the jingle we heard last year and more like the beating heart of the matter. To push the point, the album opts for a live-sounding mix that ditches out midway through, giving way to a speech from the rapper himself.

The most intriguing aspect of Purity is the low keyboard drone that's in the mix in every song, never changing key, leading to a sense of unity, but also a slight sense of monotony when taken in as a whole. Lyrically, Hate Forest fall in line with the rest of the National Socialist Black Metal crowd that don't see the irony of championing Nazi-ism in a former Soviet satellite state. Any fan of the rawer side of black metal should get a kick out of Purity. Even though it does tend to meld together after a while, Hate Forest play off of their influences but don't use them as a creative crutch, creating an album that has enough pissed off personality to stand on it's own without sounding like a derivative mash of the Norwegian scene from a decade prior.

This next song is about a girl in a box. This song is called Purity". Corey before singing this song live. Purity" is a track that was written for Slipknot's self-titled album. It appeared as track nine on the album. The track was removed from the album and replaced with "Me Inside" due to the lawsuit. The band continued to perform the song live. The rare studio version also appears on "Disasterpieces" in Audio form under the Music Videos section.

To Pimp A Butterfly is the story of where Kendrick was/is in his life post-GKMC: - Wesley’s Theory - He doesn’t want to be another Wesley Snipes (. snatched up by critical acclaim and fame at an early age). Young Wesley was featured in a Spike Lee film when he was still considered an avant garde director and in Michael fucking Jackson’s first post-Thriller video for Bad directed by Martin Scores. hat’s pretty famous, pretty fast. King Kunta - This track begins the thread of self-doubt masked in braggadocio contained throughout the entire album until he reaches self-actualization - i love myself! - at the end of the album when he becomes a Negus. Hence the introduction of the poem that tells his state of mind post-GKMC at the end of this song. This track is critical in understanding this album.

Lamar’s second studio album is his first Billboard No. 1, having moved 363,000 units in its first week. The rapper surprised everyone by dropping Butterfly more than a week before its scheduled drop date. Lamar’s team carefully built up hype surrounding the release by revealing the album’s title and artwork very shortly before the album itself dropped. Lamar will join headliners Elton John and the Black Keys at Outside Lands in San Francisco this summer. Charles Caldas, the only CEO that the independent-label collective Merlin has ever known, announced today that he will step down from his post at the end of 2019, after more than 12 years at the helm of the global rights organization. He will continue his current duties until then and work with the Merlin board to
