Minnie is the fifth and final studio album by American R&B/jazz singer Minnie Riperton. With a new record deal under her belt and a guarantee from the label of priority marketing and promotion, Minnie went right to work on what would be her final album.

Minnie is the fifth and final studio album (not counting a posthumous release the following year) by Minnie Riperton. She died of cancer two months after its release. With a new record deal under her belt and a guarantee from the label of priority marketing/promotion, Minnie went right to work on what would be her final album. With husband Richard Rudolph, Keni St. Lewis, Gene Dozier, Randy Waldman, Marlo Henderson & Bill Thedford contributing songs, the album served as Minnie's final statement to the music world and fans.

Minnie Riperton (Nov 8, 1947 - Jul 12, 1979) was an American singer who is best remembered for her 1974 hit ballad, Lovin' You. The tragic 1979 death of 31-year-old Riperton silenced one of soul music's most unique and unforgettable voices - blessed with an angelic five-octave vocal range, she scored her greatest commercial success with the chart-topping pop ballad, "Lovin' You". Riperton was born in Chicago on November 8, 1947.

The album consists of the hits like "Perfect Angel", "Lovin' You", "Inside My Love", and "Adventures in Paradise". Also included, her last two released singles "Here We Go" from the album Love Lives Forever and "You Take My Breath Away" (both from the album Love Lives Forever).

Minnie Julia Riperton-Rudolph (November 8, 1947 – July 12, 1979), was an American singer-songwriter best known for her 1975 single Lovin' You and her five-octave coloratura soprano range. She is also widely known for her use of the whistle register and has been referred to by the media as the Queen of the whistle register. On April 5, 1975, Riperton reached the apex of her career with her No. 1 single Lovin' You. The single was the last release from her 1974 gold album titled Perfect Angel. In January 1976, Riperton was diagnosed with breast cancer and, in April, she underwent a radical mastectomy.

Although her 1979 death at 31 still reverberates through pop and R&B, Petals: The Minnie Riperton Collection is one of the first sets to successfully celebrate the joy, sensuality and wonder inherent in Minnie Riperton's music. This two-CD set has 34 tracks spanning the years 1966-1979. Unlike other compilations this culls work from all of her styles, including the cutesy but derivative R&B/pop she recorded under the name Andrea Davis. The collection also includes tracks from her stint with the often ho-hum, rock/R&B group Rotary Connection
