Open your eyes To the millions of lies That they tell you every day Open your mind To the clever disguise That the advertisements say. How do they know What's good for you? Open Your Eyes (2002). When I first started listening to this album, I started to feel better about my thoughts on Goldfinger's previous release, Stomping Ground. That album had a few great songs on it (Counting the Days, San Simeon, 99 Red Balloons), but it also had a lot of filler (too many songs to list). Now I'm comfortable in admitting that, because this album is MUCH better. I don't know why, but this album just comes together a lot better than Stomping Ground did and it has therefore renewed my faith in Goldfinger's songwriting abilities.

Goldfinger’s subsequent album of original material Stomping Ground appeared in 2000, after which the group embarked on their most ambitious tour to date including the . Following the tour, Paulson left the band and was replaced by Brian Arthur, who had previously played with the Alt-metal group Unloco
