Party Mix! is a 1981 remix album by The B-52's, released in between their second album Wild Planet and the Mesopotamia EP. On the original vinyl, this six-song collection contained songs from their first two albums remixed and sequenced to form two long tracks, one on each side. On the CD version, however, all the songs feature their own tracks. In the US, Party Mix! and a 1990 remix version of Mesopotamia were combined onto one CD, released in 1991

On paper, it sounds like a cerebral exercise, but it played like a party. The jerky, angular funk was irresistibly danceable, winning over listeners dubious of Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson's high-pitched, shrill close harmonies and Fred Schneider's campy, flamboyant vocalizing, pitched halfway between singing and speaking. These songs illustrated that the B-52's' adoration of camp culture wasn't simply affectation - it was a world view capable of turning out brilliant pop singles and, in turn, influencing mainstream pop culture. It's difficult to imagine the endless kitschy retro fads of the '80s and '90s without the B-52's pointing the way, but The B-52's isn't simply an historic artifact - it's a hell of a good time.

The B-52’s, (now stylized as The B-52s) are an internationally successful New Wave band also known for their campy fashion. Their original line-up included Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson and Ricky Wilson. Originally, all members of the band played multiple instruments. However, after Ricky Wilson’s tragic AIDS-related death in 1985, instead of hiring a full-time replacement, Strickland transitioned to primarily playing guitar, and the band has used various other musicians for recording and touring purposes

The version of "Dance This Mess Around" is absolutely righteous on this EP. Fun record to throw on when you and guests are making bad decisions, or, if you're a lazy DJ :)

I had all the B-52 albums, preserved in pristine condition, from when I bought them back in the ‘80s but I never had Party Mix. I recently picked up a used copy in near mint condition. I didn’t’ realize that this was a “mix” record—very cool! My copy is whisper quiet and has an amazingly strong signal. Five stars all the way! Totally rad, like… fur sure!
