Arcadium's sole album, like that of many also-ran rare psychedelic LPs of the late '60s, was something of a bad trip soundtrack in its reliance upon minor melodies, swirling churchy organs, loud distorted guitars, pained vocals, hints of blues, and ghostly harmonies. Sole songwriter and lead vocalist Miguel Sergides had an enigmatic, sometimes unfathomable worldview, but one that always projected discontent and struggle.

Can you please give information about the sound quality on here?

DABY
There is no master tape of this album anymore known.

Kanal
I hope its a good remastered vinyl , if its not ! I will never buy any vinyls any more

Very bad reissue. The most important final track "Birth Life and Death" is a few seconds shorter without words spoken by vocalist Michael - "Goodbye my world". Sound lacks bass. The 12-string guitar start of "Riding Alone" sounds like a compressed mp3 and the bonus poor lady alternate version is 2 minute instrumental intro to this great song

Erienan
Not only that demo, but the single's 2 songs too as a bonus. Which I like in a way. The bad part is not that.

This "remaster" is just a sucks in every way. I was arguing with the guy (Sun Dial guitarist)if its a shame, if they should do this again, would worth it, but at the end he sent me to death.

Barinirm
why they pressed 'Poor Lady - Demo' in it ?

GAMER
Does anyone know if there's a "good" original issue or reissue of this record? Reviews for all versions are negative when it comes to sound quality.

Is this an official release?Thanks

crazy mashine
No, it isn`t. And I am glad that someone has finally called thing by their names and marked this as "unofficial". It is somewhere from late 70s and or early 80s, and Middle Earth existed only for one or two years, so it has been baffling to me how people think it might be an official release.. and those crazy guys who bid on this release on Ebay for prices as high as 200 Euros !!!

Laizel
Do you have any reliable source for this info ? I can't find any :(

Dogrel
this album is a vintage psych classic. very good songs, singing and playing, great guitar parts. some real "a-ha" moments. recommended to late 60's /early 70's psych heads.

The UK pressing is always poor, meaning fairly constant surface noise, even on an unplayed copy. I've never heard the French original on Vogue, but it is supposed to be equally cursed. It was also released in minute quantities in Australia on the Astor label. A decent pressing, that is the version to get if you want an original that plays nicely.

FireWater
The French original is also horrible sounding. Very very bad...

All tracks on this extremely rare album are filled with an atmosphere of anguish and despair, even in their quieter moments. Both lyrics and music are struggling for expression, to the effect of creating a very dense and at times impenetrable album, which is worth your while nonetheless. Although barely escaping perennial threats of murkiness and even sloppiness, the convincing emotional contents save the day for this album. Especially impressive are the longer tracks like the opening I'm On My Way with its telling title, in which the song structure gets blown to pieces by emotional outbursts on guitar, leading into an altogether strange and hitherto unheard of territory. This track was also issued on the rare label sampler Earthed from 1970. Mediocre vinyl marred all copies I have encountered.
