Rising (also known as Rainbow Rising ) is the second studio album by the British hard rock band Rainbow, released in 1976. The band was originally billed as Blackmore's Rainbow in the US. In 1996 Cozy Powell told Record Collector magazine that much of the album was recorded in one or two takes, with some subsequent overdubs, which explains why no alternate or demo versions exist, just the original or rough mixes.

The second album by Rainbow, Rising, was released on 17 May 1976 and hit the charts on 5 June, despite extensive line-up changes from their debut se. All of this, too, well before Rainbow’s days as a singles chart band in either country, and the album also hit the top 40 in Germany, Sweden and New Zealand. Rising was the word, and two years later, Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll would continue the trend, as Blackmore and co confirmed their place at rock’s top table. Rainbow Rising can be bought here.
