Ghiaurov, Boito ‎– Mefistofele Selections. Style: Opera, Romantic. Nicolai Ghiaurov, Franco Tagliavini, Gianni Lazzari, Silvio Varviso, Orchestra and Chorus Of The Rome Opera, Arrigo Boito - Mefistofele - Selections ‎(Reel, 4tr Stereo, 7" Reel, Album).

Mefistofele (Italian pronunciation: ) is an opera in a prologue, four acts and an epilogue, the only completed opera with music by the Italian composer-librettist Arrigo Boito (there are several completed operas for which he was librettist only). The opera was given its premiere on 5 March 1868 at La Scala, Milan, under the baton of the composer, despite his lack of experience and skill as a conductor.

This album offers Leonard Bernstein in some quite rare (at least for him, on disc) operatic repertoire. Given his flair for the dramatic, it’s not surprising that Bernstein would take so winningly to Strauss’s Salome. The Dance of the Seven Veils is full of color, sparkle, and cloying sensuality Montserrat Caballé. Total Runtime01:06:41. Info for R. Strauss: Selections From "Salome", 5 Songs; Boito: Mefistofele Prologo (Remastered). This album offers Leonard Bernstein in some quite rare (at least for him, on disc) operatic repertoire. was recorded in Vienna, with Ghiaurov once again putting on diabolical style to admiration, with glorious Viennese choirs, the world’s most lovable orchestra, and a sumptuous, broadly spread acoustic and wide range of dynamics.
