Gil e Jorge is a 1975 album featuring collaboration between Brazilian musicians Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil. The two perform together alongside percussionist Djalma Corrêa on each of the songs, improvising and interacting directly throughout. In 2007, it was listed by Rolling Stone Brazil as one of the 100 best Brazilian albums in history.
Recorded with little rehearsal and only two acoustic guitars (plus a percussionist) for accompaniment, Gil e Jorge focuses squarely on the individual talents of Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben as musicians, vocalists, performers, and improvisers. Of course, they prove up to the task. The nine lengthy tracks on the album (it was originally configured as a double LP) feature Gil and Ben interacting to a high degree, trading lines and often repeating them several times
Jorge Ben is the self-titled sixth studio album by Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist Jorge Ben. It was released in November 1969 by Philips Records. The album was his first recording for a major label since 1965 when his first stint with Philips ended due to creative differences. Ben recorded the album alongside producer Manoel Barenbein, the vocal/percussion band Trio Mocotó, and an orchestral section arranged by José Briamonte and Rogério Duprat

Apparently Jorge Ben was in a very different mood from Gilberto Gil that day and each had a very different idea about what they wanted the recordings to sound like, and so that tension runs through every song. In "Catatau" there is a character named "Occam" who, although a reference to Ockham, is according to Leminski's notes derived from Afro Brazilian mythology also (maybe Ogum?): he is the monster.
