Matchbox Twenty rose to international fame with their debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You (1996), which was certified 12 Platinum (diamond) in the United States and multi-platinum in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Their second album, Mad Season, released in 2000, charted in the top three on the Billboard 200 and was certified 4 Platinum in the United States. Their third album, More Than You Think You Are, released in 2002, was only certified 2 Platinum in the United States, despite its singles receiving significant airplay
Then track 12b with 3:45 follows. The hidden track is called "So Sad So Lonely" according to the Matchbox Twenty Official Forum.
The best proof that Matchbox Twenty is not the Rob Thomas project? Their third album, More Than You Think You Are. If this was simply the work of Thomas, this album would likely be more like their very fine second album, a savvy mainstream pop record that casually displayed his songwriting skills and was casually eclectic. This? This sounds like the effort of a band who not only wants to rock again, but feels compelled to rock again, to prove that they are indeed a band. Perhaps this would have worked if they had either a strong set of songs or a sinewy, persuasive production.
Unwell is the second single from Matchbox Twenty’s third album, More Than You Think You Are. It is one of their most well-known songs and was very popular at the time of its release. Rob Thomas, the lead singer for Matchbox Twenty, states that he wrote the song as a metaphor for humanity in general, a song for people who are messed up and feel alone like that. We all feel a little messed up sometime. ou’re not alone. What does Rob thing about the banjo on this song? Rob Thomas

Matchbox Twenty and Grammy-winning frontman Rob Thomas are adored in the US but their angst-ridden melodic rock has failed to ignite the UK. Their second LP, 2000’s Mad Season, was an eclectic record full of catchy hooks and lyrics. More Than You Think You Are is flat by comparison. Thomas’ lyrics are too frequently overwrought, with Unwell and the ghostly ballad Hand Me Down the only standouts. Uncut – May 2019 issue.
