Spectres is the fifth studio album by Blue Öyster Cult, released in November 1977. The album, which features one of the band's biggest hits, the concert staple "Godzilla," was certified gold in January 1978. The cover art features Blue Öyster Cult's use of lasers in their live show at that time. A remastered version was released on CD on February 13, 2007, and included four previously unreleased outtakes from the Spectres sessions as bonus tracks.

That’s why Record Store Day will save the future. Independent record stores were the safe haven of my youth. A magical world where no one cared that I was different, where I could find out about incredible music that was not being played on the radio. The list of nging artists that I was exposed to in places like Schoolkids, Poindexter Records (where I eventually worked) and the Record Exchange would go on for miles. An album you can totally hold in your hands and can include lots of cool stuff inside like pictures, flyers, and lyrics sheets you can actually read without a magnifying glass. I have always collected vinyl and always will!" Rikk Agnew. With independent record stores, the selection is far more vast. The vinyl is also priced well, and the inventory changes practically day by day.
RSD co-ordinator Spencer Hickman has toasted the event as the most successful to date: Indie record shops pulled out all the stops once again to make Record Store Day UK a huge success, said Record Store Day UK coordinator Spencer Hickman.

Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2008 and held on one Saturday every April and every Black Friday in November to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores across the world. A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with a list of releases for each country, and are only distributed to shops participating in the event.
