Blogmas Day 4: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Range Review*

Neutrogena Hydro Boost

Hello, everyone! In October I`ve attended the Winter Wonders Event organised by Johnson and Johnson, and I was lucky enough to get the chance to test Neutrogena`s Hydro Boost range. Weeks later, I am here to tell you the results and spoiler alert: I love them.

Until a few years ago, people used to confuse dehydrated skin with dry skin. It`s not even their fault, as there were not any real options on the market. But now we know better. Whilst they seem similar, dehydrated and dry are two different things. For instance, someone might have combination or even oily skin and still suffer from dehydration. So what exactly are the symptoms? Well, in her book, "Pretty Honest", Sali Hughes identified the following:

  • prone to dullness, often lacklustre in appearance
  • fine lines, some of which seem to come and go
  • responds positively to steam rooms, looks and feels better in humid weather conditions
  • feels desperate for product after showering
  • sometimes flakes and peels when make-up is applied
  • dry-feeling lips
Simply put, dry skin lacks oil, while dehydrated skin lacks water. And that`s why this range is perfect for anyone that deals with this situation. I try my best to drink 2l of water every day, but I can`t say that my skin seems to notice that. Luckily, thanks to this collection, I`m not like a lizard.

For years I have been a fan of micellar waters for taking off my makeup. Lately, however, my skin feels drier and more sensitive. Especially the eye area. So I switched to Neutrogena`s Gelee Milk Cleanser and it made all the difference. Not only does it do an amazing job at removing makeup, but it also leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I might call it my favourite product from the range if it weren`t for the Hydro Boost Water Gel cream. This is now my favourite cream of all time and I can`t believe it`s from the drugstore. Weeks after using it, my skin feels softer and less prone to irritation. But most importantly, I feel my skin hydrated hours after applying the cream and that`s something I haven`t experienced with other products.

Last, but not least, we have the City Shield Hydrating Lotion with SPF 25. You can use this separately, but I prefer applying it after the Water Gel cream. I might seem too much, but the City Shield lotion has a very lightweight formula and it sinks in very fast. Like I said, I have very dry skin during the colder months and I need all the help I can get. Plus, I always skip my SPF (shameeeeee), so this is like shooting two birds with one stone (quite the aggressive idiom, but oh well).

Overall, I`d say that this is the perfect range for anyone suffering from dull skin, that needs a bit of moisture. The products are hydrating, the formula is lightweight and it does not contain anything heavy, that might clog up your pores.

  5. Oh dear,I don't know how but it seems I unfollowed you on Bloglovin by accident. No wonder I haven't been seeing your posts!

I saw this range in the drugstore yesterday and considered getting the moisturizer when my current one runs out. I think I'll do just that after reading this review, so thank you for that! xx
