A relaxed Autumn Day

It`s been a while since I had a Friday off. Initially, I wanted to explore Nothing Hill (in desperate need of some cool insta pics), but then it started raining and I gave up. I know I tend to bitch about the weather a lot, but sometimes I like gloomy days. Don`t get me wrong, they`re a pain in the ass when you want to go out. Or when you have to take photos for your blog. But rainy days also give me a feeling of peace, a few moments of mindfulness and clarity. I don`t have an OFF switch, so these days give me a reason to press pause and relax for a while. This post is about the things I like to do when I have some time for myself, whether it`s the whole day or just the evening. You can do all of them or select a couple, the choice is yours.

The first thing I do when I`m planning a chilled, staying home night is taking a bath. I like to lit some candles, put some music on and just take my time. Before I jump in the bathtub I like to take off my makeup and apply a face mask. These vary all the time, depending on my skin`s concerns at that moment. Most of my face masks are from Lush and The Body Shop, but as promised, I`ll write a more detailed post about my favourite ones soon.

I used to be a massive bath bombs fan, but now I`m more of a bubble bar person. I love sweet scents, but if you really want to clear out your mind, use something with lavender in it. I used to think aromatherapy was gibberish, but not anymore. If you`re stressed or feeling anxious, I also recommend bath salts, they always calm me down.

After I start to resemble a raisin I know bath time is over, so I`ll make myself a hot cocoa and head to the living room. There, I like to gather as many pillows and blankets as I can, turn into a human burrito and read for a while. I normally do my reading quota in the morning (yes,I have one, don`t ask) but sometimes I love a book so much, I can`t put it down. I`m sure that happened to you as well, so you know how important that next chapter is. My favourite genre is fantasy, but I enjoy YA and the classics just as much.

Like everyone else, I end my night with a Netflix marathon. I know that`s bad and you should avoid technology before sleep, but I can`t help it. Netflix is life, I said it! Sure, it`s still missing my favourite shows (GoT and Supernatural), but there`s so much to choose from. Gilmore Girls, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, House of Cards. There`s something for everyone. Oh, if you`re a Jane Austen fan then you should definitely watch the BBC adaptations of her most famous books. Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice?YES PLEASE!

I really hope you enjoyed today`s random post. I love beauty posts, but sometimes I need to ramble. Anyways, let me know what you liked to do on a day off.

  1. I love rain, I love to return home from work, have my coffee or rea and relax and listen to the magical noise of rain! I watched yesterday the Pride and Prejudice but the one of 2005 with Keira, still my favorite version :)

  2. Nothing says Autumn like staying at home and watching movies
In South Africa it's Spring now, but candles can be used all year round.

  5. I actually like gloomy days, they are somehow relaxing :) But as you said when you have some plans outside or trying to take photos for the blog then they are the worst ones. This is also my ideal relaxed autumn day where I don't do much but just relax :)

  6. I totally agree with you! Gloomy days are best indoors. HaHaHa When you have to get out in bad weather, its a struggle. I love relaxing inside. I like to pamper myself, fix some hot tea and read. These were great and I would love to see more of what you love from LUSH.
