Blog changes: new URL, own domain!

I mentioned in previous posts, I started this blog because I was lonely and bored and I needed a distraction. When I started, I wanted to be the next Chiara Ferragni, hence the name: So what`s fashion about? But I am shy and I don`t like posing, so that did not feel natural. I also got a full-time job and finding time to take outfit photos was a chore. I soon discovered that I am more into beauty than fashion, so I started writing more beauty reviews. And I loved it.

This year I realised that I love blogging, it makes me feel better in so many ways. The joys of finding people with same interests as me, of replying to lovely comments, taking part in blogger chats. It`s been a heck of a ride. And if something makes you happy, it`s normal to devote time and attention to it. First, I focused more on photography, read books and invested in props. Then I found a lovely blog template on Etsy that incorporated my girly personality. And today I got my domain from Godaddy!

After much consideration, I still went for a silly name: beauty nerd. But that shows what my blog is all about. First, I am not ashamed to say that I am a nerd and I like all things related to books, science, etc. And the main focus on this blog continues to be beauty, so it seemed like the perfect fit.

If you are serious about blogging, I honestly advise you to get your own domain. It looks more professional and mature. However, know that this move might affect your stats. I mean, most of my readers know the old URL, so it will take time until they found out about this one. Also, all my tweets that linked to the old blog name are now useless. And don`t get me started on Bloglovin, I might have lost all my readers. But I`m still happy with the change, it shows my commitment to blogging.

So what`s fashion about? is now Beauty Nerd. Pop the champagne!

    1. I think I confused a lot of people:)) Getting a domain it`s really easy and cheap, I got mine for less than 7 pounds from Godaddy. However, if you use Bloglovin, changing the blog url will be a pain in the ass. I am still waiting for them to approve my change.
