Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer

Hello, everyone. What`s new in your life? I am currently enjoying the good weather, I stayed a bit in the garden and read and it was so nice. It got a bit chilly, though, so I went back into my room and started writing my posts for the following days. That`s what happens when you have only 2 days off. The joys of adulthood and a full-time job.

So, last time we spoke, I told you Superdrug has a 3 for 2 on makeup and I went a bit crazy at the Makeup Revolution aisle, so expect to see their products featured a lot. This time, I decided to experiment more and not just limit myself to the eye shadow palettes, so I picked a bit of everything. One of them is this little primer, in this not so fancy packaging. Then again, I`ll gladly take efficiency over appearance every time.
As you can see, this promises to give you 24-hour makeup protection. I don`t think anyone wears their makeup for so long or at least, I hope they don`t, but apparently in the beauty world longer means better. Now, I`ll be honest and admit I started using primers recently. The first time I used one was last year and I was super excited about it for a week, then nothing. I know everyone says they`re important, but I don`t wear a lot of makeup, so I tend to skip them. However, if you do a full face makeup (is that how you call it?), then applying primer is essential. Not only will it last longer, but it will also look nicer and less cakey.

This primer has a formula very similar to the one from Smashbox. It`s a silicone, gel consistency and it just glides on your face. Moderation is key when you apply it. It feels really lightweight, so you might be tempted to add more, but a pea-sized drop is enough. Just focus more on your T-zone area, that`s the part of your face that gets really oily throughout the day. The formula is amazing, you don`t feel it at all and sinks in a couple of seconds.

I had a small breakout on my chin last week, so I am using makeup with high coverage. I also used this primer for the past 4 days, for a smoother and oil free base. And I must say, I love it so far. My makeup definitely lasted longer and it did not get cakey throughout the day, so I am very happy with the results. My pores were less noticeable and my T-zone was shine free. I always complain that I can`t find a good drugstore primer, but this might be the one.

As all Makeup Revolution products, this is super cheap, at 5 pounds being the cheapest primer I tried. You get only 25 ml of product, but those will last you for such a long time. Not only you need a small amount, but you don`t have to use primers daily, so I reckon this will be in my makeup bag for at least 6 months.

Have you tried this primer? If not, what`s your favourite drugstore primer? Let me know in the comment below.

  1. Great post! I have a primer from NYX, but this sounds promising, after my current runs out I´ll try this one ^^

  3. I've only just started using primers too and I've noticed such a difference in my makeup throughout the day! I picked up a primer from Rimmel recently and I'm loving it. But I love Makeup Revolution and didn't realise they sold a primer, so I'm tempted to go looking for it and trying it out now that I have read your review! :)

    1. It`s really good and cheap and it`s currently on a 3 for 2 sale, so it costs even less than 5 pounds now.
