Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

I have a confession to make: even though I write a lot of reviews for beauty products, most of the days I don`t wear any makeup. I am happy with my skin, I can leave the house without foundation and still feel pretty. At the same time, I love testing different products and knowing that when I want to look posh I have everything I need in my arsenal. I`m more of a drugstore type of gal, but every now and then, thanks to beauty boxes, I get the chance to test something out of my price range.

I got this with my Glossybox and I was beyond excited when I saw the generous sample. It will definitely last me for a couple of months, a good thing considering I would never spend that much on a primer. The first thing I noticed about it was the scent, it`s quite a pleasant sweet one. Most of the primers I tried before were similar to creams or gels, but this is entirely different. It`s quite watery and lightweight and just sink into your skin. Although it did leave my skin feeling extremely soft, I don`t think it helped to prolong my makeup or keeping the oil at bay.

Although this primer is from a well-known brand for its quality, I find it mediocre. Although it doesn`t do anything special, it will be my primer of choice for these colder months. Because it has such a light consistency, it does not break me out. Lately, every primer that has silicone in its formula covers my face with spots, so I try to avoid them. I used the POREfessional for many months, but recently I had a bad breakout, so I stopped using it. Also, I noticed some dry patches and every foundation seems to cling to it, used alone. However, if I apply this primer before, everything looks better. I know I should probably change my foundation, but I don`t want to invest in something for 2 months, so the primer does the trick.

I read so many negative reviews about this primer and I don`t find it amazing either, but I don`t think it`s as bad as people describe it either. But still, it`s a shame considering the price.

P.S. If you know any good primers without silicone in them, feel free to give me your recommendations. Thanks for reading!

  1. I didn't get on very well with POREfessional sadly :( this one sounds like a nice alternative though. I use Instablur from The Body Shop which is nice to use!
